New App: What Current Customers Can Expect

This article will help outline you can expect as an existing customer with the new app.

We're excited to announce a major upgrade to the Spacetalk app, with enhanced features and improved performance. As this is a significant change to our app and underlying technology.

What do you need to do:

To get yourself prepared, make sure you follow these steps:

  1. If you have an existing Spacetalk watch, make sure your watch has the latest software updates. See Watch software update for instructions on how to do this.

  2. Get the latest Spacetalk App from your App Store. We are constantly making updates so please check you have the latest version.

  3. Open your new Spacetalk App and login using your previous account email address or mobile number. Good news, no more passwords needed!

What can you expect to see?

If you’re an existing customer, you’ll still have the same features you’re used to, as well as some exciting new ones – but what will happen to your already paired Spacetalk watches?

When you first open your Spacetalk app after the update, you’ll be taken to your new Space – which will look like this:

This Space will now be where you can view your family details. The Space will be titled [Your Surname]’s Space – but this can be easily changed.

To view your Spacetalk watch, simply press on the profile picture and you’ll be directed to the map and all the watch features you’re used to – plus some exciting new ones.

Family members you’ve previously shared your Spacetalk watch with via ‘Device Sharing’ will also appear in your new Space as an admin.

If you’d like to make changes to their profile, simply press on their icon to view all the available features. Find out more here: Managed Member Settings.

In addition to a new Space being created for your family, you’ll also see an additional Space having been created for the contacts added to your Spacetalk watch. To view the additional space, simply swipe from the right of the screen to the left – you’ll be able to see which Space you’re on by viewing the 3 dots below the Space icons.

These additional Spaces will be the people you’ve added as ‘Watch Contacts’ to your Spacetalk watches. They will be able to communicate with the Spacetalk watches as normal via call and SMS – all additional features will be switched off in your app, so these contacts will not have access to location or other features available to managed users and admins.

If you have multiple watches paired to your app, you will find multiple Spaces are created, each containing the watch contacts associated with your watches.

All of the features you’re used to, such as locations, calling, video calling and safe zones (plus many more) are still here – they’re just in different, but easy to access menus within the new Spacetalk app update.

Spaces

Organise your people and the trusted contacts in your life with the Spacetalk App’s Spaces feature.

Membership

Currently for Australian customers only but coming soon to UK & US.

This new tab is for all things Spacetalk app subscription and Spacetalk Mobile services. The web page features you’re using to accessing via our website are now available on your app! Here you can make changes to your Spacetalk Mobile plan on the go.

Routes

Create Routes for your crew’s regular journeys (to school, Grandma’s house, or sports practice) in the Spacetalk app. This feature helps your keep an eye on your people when they’re travelling from A to B.

What if I can’t see my watch?

Sometimes things don’t go to plan and your watch may need re-pairing. If you don’t see your Spacetalk watch in your new Space you’ll likely need to re-pair it to your app – please see a handy link below to an article which can help get you set up asap
