Pair your Spacetalk watch

Instructions on how to get your Spacetalk watch connected with the app.

Updated this week

Congratulations on purchasing your new Spacetalk watch!

Before you Start Pairing

Set up your Spacetalk App account & Managed Member

By now, you should have already created an account on the Spacetalk App. If you haven't done that yet, follow our Setting up your app guide first. You will need the Spacetalk Plus subscription for the watch.

Once you have an account set up, you should set up the watch user as a Managed Member. This will save you some time later when you are getting the watch paired. Find out more about Managed Members here: Link to manage. For help setting up the watch wearer as a Managed Member, you can follow this guide

Have an Active SIM

For the watch to be fully functional, you will need to have an active SIM inserted in the watch. Make sure the SIM is active and connected to enable calling, messaging, location & safety features on the watch. If you don’t have an active SIM, you will not be able to pair your watch.

Australia, UK & USA:

Your watch will have a SIM either inside the watch or inserted in the watch box. You will need to activate this SIM. Activating your Spacetalk SIM entitles you to a free subscription of the Spacetalk Plus membership. If you need help activating your Spacetalk Mobile SIM, our guide can walk you through this:

If you do not activate the Spacetalk SIM, you will need to pay for the Spacetalk Plus membership.

If you choose to have a different SIM provider in your watch, there will be an unlocking fee to enable the other SIM to work in the watch.

Now you are ready to start pairing.

Step 1: Open the Spacetalk App & Pair a Watch

To begin, open your Spacetalk app.

If you have a Space you want to add the watch wearer to, you can pair directly from that Space.

Otherwise, you can pair the watch from your Member Profile page and decide later which Space to add them to.

In an Existing Space

If you have a Space that you want to add the watch wearer to, for example My Family Space, you can pair a watch directly from that Space.

  • Tap the + Symbol

  • Select ‘Pair a watch’

Step 2: Select the Managed Member

A list of all the member accounts you manage will be shown. Choose who you want to pair the watch to. You can even pair the watch to yourself.

  • If you have already set up the watch wearer as a Managed Member, select their name.

  • If you haven’t done this yet, you can select ‘Add new member you manage’. For help setting up the watch wearer as a Managed Member, you can follow this guide.

Step 3: Enter the Watch phone number

You’re now ready to start pairing the watch to the App. Tap ‘Pair my watch’ to start the watch pairing. You will be walked through some pre-pairing checks which we’ve covered at the start of this article.

First you’ll need to add the watch phone number.

  • If you used a Spacetalk SIM and have activated it, the number should be on the confirmation email sent to you.

  • If you don’t have a watch number, you need one before you can proceed.

  • For Australia, UK & US, you can activate the SIM provided by selecting ‘Activate your SIM’. See Activate your SIM guides for help to activate your SIM.

  • If you do not wish to use the Spacetalk SIM, unlocking fees will apply to the watch to allow a different SIM provider to be used on the watch.

  • For other countries, check your SIM provider to find out what your phone number is. If you did not purchase an active SIM, you will not be able to pair your watch. The watch needs an active SIM service to be fully functional to enable calling, messaging, location & safety features.

Step 4: Tap to Pair

Now go to your watch and press 'Tap to Pair'.

The watch will check for any software updates first. Once the update is complete, 'Tap to pair' will reappear on your screen. Tap on this.

If you come back later to your watch and it doesn’t display the ‘Tap to pair’ anymore, just hold down the power button until the watch vibrates. Wait for the watch to restart and the ‘Tap to pair’ message will reappear.

Troubleshooting notes:

  • If you don't see ‘Tap to pair’ on your watch, reset your watch by swiping down on the watch screen and press 'Settings' > ‘Factory Reset’ > and use the last 4 digits of the IMEI number as the password. You can find the IMEI on the side label of your box or you can press ‘Settings’ > ‘Information’ on the watch.

  • If you see ‘Scan with the Spacetalk App’ message, tap the centre of the watch screen again to have the QR code appear.
