Is My Watch Water Resistant?

Information on the water resistance of your Spacetalk watch

Updated this week

Spacetalk Watches have a dust and water-resistant rating of IP67.

This rating means that your Spacetalk Watch will be more tolerant to splashes, light exposure to water such as handwashing and rain. We do not recommend swimming, bathing or showering whilst wearing your Spacetalk Watch as additional factors, such as soaps, chlorine, salts and other chemicals can impact the seals within the device.

Please note, the water-resistant qualities of your Spacetalk Watch can be affected by shocks, vibrations, and excessive removal and insertion of the SIM cover and/or tray.

As stated on the watch description, Spacetalk Watches are protected up to a depth of 1 metre for a duration of up to 30 minutes. However, kindly note, this is under laboratory testing conditions.

Provided the watch is maintained accordingly, not exposed to undue wear and tear, the water-resistance can be maintained. The device is equipped with multiple ingress protection indicators which will show if the device has come into contact with or been affected by water.

What are water-resistant properties or IP67?

This watch is water and dust resistant in compliance with the Ingress Protection rating IP67. Your watch has undergone testing in a controlled environment and is proven to be water and dust resistant in certain circumstances (meets the requirements of classification IP67 as described by the international standard IEC 60529 - Degrees of Protection provided by Enclosures IP67 test conditions: 15-35ºC/59-95 ºF, 86-106kPa, 1 meter, for 30 minutes).

Do not expose the device in conditions that are different from the test conditions. Results may vary in actual use.

WARNING: Despite a rating of IP67, your device is not impervious to conditions not tested in the controlled environment.

Please note that any damages that occur due to such causes changes the colour of the LDI (Liquid Damage Indicator). If the colour of LDI located inside the watch changes, the watch may be considered ineligible for any free-of-charge repair services provided under the watch’s limited warranty.

How to care for your Spacetalk Watch?

Avoid excessive dust or moisture as it may cause damages to the LDI or other internally sealed components and therefore may render your watch ineligible for repair services provided under the watch’s limited warranty.

Do not use the watch in the following environments:

  • Do not immerse the watch in any liquid chemicals (soap, etc.).

  • Do not immerse the watch in salt water, including seawater.

  • Do not immerse the watch in a hot spring.

  • Do not swim with this watch.

  • Do not place the watch directly on sand (such as at a beach) or mud.

  • Do not immerse your watch in water deeper than approximately 1 meter.

  • Do not immerse your watch in water for longer than 30 minutes.

If your watch becomes wet, be sure to wipe the microphone, speaker, and charging contacts with a dry cloth before use.

Should your watch or your hands become wet, dry them thoroughly before handling the watch again.

Do not use the watch in places where it may be sprayed with high-pressure water (e.g. near a faucet or shower head) or submerge it in water for extended periods of time, as the watch is not designed to withstand high water pressure.

The watch’s water- and dust-resistant features may be damaged by dropping or receiving an impact. This watch is not resistant to shock. Do not drop the watch or subject it to shock. Doing so might damage or deform the main unit, causing water leakage.

If the watch gets wet, use a clean, soft cloth to dry it thoroughly. The touch screen and other features may not work properly if the device is used while wet.

Your watch is water- and dust-resistant only when the SIM card tray/cover is properly inserted into the watch.

Do not open or close the SIM card tray/cover while the watch is wet or immersed in water. Exposing the open tray to water or moisture may damage the watch.

The SIM card tray/cover contains rubber [packing] to help prevent dust, water, or moisture from entering the watch.

Do not damage the rubber [packing] as this may allow dust, water, or moisture to enter your watch and cause damage.

If you insert to or remove the card tray/cover from the device, be careful not to let water or other liquids enter into the card tray/cover. If a wet card tray/cover or card is inserted into the device, your device may get damaged.

Failure to follow the provided instructions may invalidate your device’s limited warranty

If you suspect your water has been subject to liquid damage, you can contact our support team to have your watch sent for assessment with a technician as it may be possible to repair. For more information, please click here
