Australia: Identity Check Issues

Help with the identity (KYC) check during Spacetalk Mobile SIM activation.

If you're having issues with the identity check for your mobile SIM activation, this article will offer some help. Identity verification is a step in the in-app SIM Activation flow, and is required the first time you activate.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • If you've failed an identity check, wait an hour before resubmitting. Multiple failed attempts in quick succession can cause the system to automatically fail further attempts, even when the correct details are provided.

  • Use the correct numbers. See the examples below for the difference between reference number, card number and licence number.

  • Enter all relevant punctuation shown on the card — if your name has a hyphen on the ID, include it.

  • Don't include spaces if the licence, card or passport number contains spaces — just enter the string of numbers and letters.

  • If you have a single name, use a full stop (.) in the Family Name field.

Entering your details

Depending on which form of ID you use, match the information requested to the section of the form where you enter those details.

Medicare:

If using a Medicare card and you have a middle name, use the middle initial only in the middle box.

Drivers Licence

Make sure you refer to the Licence number vs Card number correctly. Refer to the images below for which information to enter for each state.
