Identity verification is required the first time you activate a Spacetalk Mobile SIM. If your check is failing, the tips below will help.
General tips
Wait before retrying. If you have already failed an identity check, wait at least an hour before trying again. Multiple failed attempts in quick succession can cause the system to automatically reject further attempts, even when the correct details are entered.
Use the correct ID numbers. Make sure you are entering the right number for each field — there is a difference between a licence number, card number, and reference number. Refer to the images for your state or ID type below.
Include punctuation exactly as shown on the card. If your name has a hyphen, include it. Do not add or remove characters that appear on the ID.
Do not include spaces. If the licence, card, or passport number contains spaces, enter only the letters and numbers without spaces.
Single name only. If you have a single name, enter a full stop (.) in the Family Name field.
Entering your details by ID type
Medicare card
If you have a middle name, use the middle initial only in the middle name field.
Note: The images in this article show which field corresponds to which number on each ID type and state. Make sure you are matching the correct number to the correct field in the activation form.
Driver's licence
Make sure you are entering the correct number for your state — licence number and card number are different fields. Refer to the image for your state:
New South Wales
Victoria
Queensland
Australian Capital Territory
South Australia
Western Australia
Tasmania
Northern Territory
Passport
Use the passport number shown on the photo page of your passport.
