Why is my Spacetalk watch location not accurate?

How the Spacetalk watch calculates location and what affects its accuracy.

The Spacetalk watch uses three methods to calculate location, automatically choosing the most accurate one available:

  • GPS (satellite positioning) — used outdoors. Accurate to within 20 metres in clear weather conditions.

  • WiFi positioning — used indoors where GPS signal is weak. Generally accurate to within 75 metres.

  • Cell tower triangulation — used as a fallback when GPS and WiFi are not available. Less accurate than the other methods.

Indoor accuracy is typically less precise than outdoor accuracy because the watch uses WiFi or cell triangulation instead of GPS inside buildings.
