A guide on the differences between the previous Spacetalk app and the new updated version

A handy feature comparison guide, to help you find the features you know and love in the new Spacetalk app - as well as some brand new features for you to explore.

Your Spaces

This is your new home page. You will be able to see your Spaces here – swipe from right to left to view multiple Spaces. Each icon in the space can be pressed on to view your members. (please see image above for example)

Find

When pressed, it will take the user to the map screen from any location in the app

Spaces

Spaces are where all of your watch users, friends and family members are stored. This is the equivalent of pressing the Your Family (Plus button) in the previous version of the app.

Chat

View all historical chats (including group chats). Chats can also be created in this tab.

Be Well

View all fitness and wellbeing data of watch users. Step count and heart rate information will be visible for Adventurer & Loop users.

Spacetalk Life users can view fall detection history.

Wellness

Fitness and feelings data can be viewed on the new app in a new location. This includes steps, heart rate (when the heart rate monitor is used on the watch) and feelings check-ins.

To view, in Spaces press on the icon of the person > in the actions menu swipe up and select ‘Track Wellness’ > this new page will provide all fitness data you're used to.

Feelings check-ins can also be seen in the ‘Track Wellness’ section, as well as in Spaces – a small emoji will appear over the person's profile picture.

Settings

App account and account holder settings can be edited here. Additional shortcuts to the most typically used features, such as location history and safe zones also available.

Also allows the user to log out or delete the account.

Profile

Press this to view your personal account. Personal details, managed users and security details can be managed and edited here.

Notification Menu

All notifications received by the app (excluding SMS & chat messages) can be viewed here.

Typically shows charging reminders, SOS triggers and when new members are added to the family on the app.

Membership

Here you can view all details associated with both your Spacetalk app membership (formerly subscription) and your Spacetalk Mobile service.

Here, you'll be able to view your Spacetalk Mobile services, as well as recharge, SIM replace, activate and cancel your services.

SOS (In app)

App users can send an SOS from their Spacetalk app. These contacts other family members added to their account.
(This does not contact watch users)

Safe Zones

These are specific locations set by the app user. A custom radius is set around the desired location, and the app user can opt whether to receive locations for the wearer's departure or arrival.

See Places and Routes

Places are specific locations set by the app user – they function the same as Safe Zones, where alerts can be assigned and will trigger when a person leaves or arrives at that place.

Routes can be used to track regular journeys, sending notifications if the person strays from the path or arrives later than usual. Notifications can be set up via the app.

Centre Location

If you’re scrolling around on the map and would like to return to where your watches are located, press this button to recentre your map.

Map

Press this button to view your map screen. Here you’ll be able to see your location in relation to those added to your Space.

Your Family (Plus button)

To view all watches paired and family members added to your account, press this button.

Plus Button

The plus button brings up a menu where you can view additional options associated with your Spaces. By pressing this, you’ll also be able to add new members, pair watches, request feelings check-ins and send group messages.

Navigate

Pressing this will open the maps app on the user's phone, showing them a route from their current location to the location of the watch

You can navigate to other members of your Space. (This function is currently not available.)

Share Location

Press this to share the location of the watch with people outside of the app. This will send a Google Maps view via your chosen method.

You can share locations at any time with other people in the Space.

Location History

Press to view location history. The user can filter through the saved location data by day, date and time.

To view, in Spaces press on the icon of the person > in the actions menu, swipe up and select ‘Watch Settings’ > select ‘Location History’ > here you can filter via day, date and time

Location Updates

Change the timed intervals between locations being sent via the watch and received on the app. By default, the watch sends locations every 15 minutes – this can be changed by the customer

To do this, in Spaces press on the icon of the person > in the actions menu, swipe up and select ‘Watch Settings’ > select ‘Location Updates’ > select the desired update interval

** Please note: the shorter the interval, the more battery life the watch will use (the customer is also notified of this via their app)

Device Sharing

If two or more people wanted to view the location of the Spacetalk watch, they would need to create their own accounts on the Spacetalk app – and the primary account holder (where the watch is paired) would need to follow the ‘Device Sharing’ steps to give access.

This feature is still available, however it has a new name and set of steps.

If additional people would like access to the watch’s location – they can be added to the Space and these permissions can be granted by the admin of the Space

Feelings

Watch users can share how they’re feeling with their parents via the Spacetalk app. The child selects an emoji on their watch, which then sends to the connected app user.

The parent can also send their child a ‘check in’ request via the app, which prompts the child to select how they’re feeling on the watch.

On the app, in Spaces, select the person you would like to send the request to > in the actions menu select ‘Request feelings check-in’ > a prompt will be sent to the watch for the child to select how they’re feeling > the update will then appear in the app for the parent.

Watch Contacts

These contacts are added via the app user to the watch. Watch contacts will only be able to voice call and SMS the watch, they will not have the video call feature unless added separately as a chat contact.

Contacts of the watch can be added by adding new members to your Space where the watch is paired.

When setting up the new members, you can enable specific features that allow the contact to voice and video call, as well as chat and SMS

Preset Messages

These are customisable messages that can be set by the parent. Once set, they will appear as options for the child to send via their watch – all the child will need to do is press on one of the options to send the message.

SOS and Emergency Contacts

When adding a ‘Watch Contact’, you can press a toggle that assigns someone as an ‘Emergency Contact’

When the SOS button is pressed on the watch, it will call and SMS to the first person on the list – if they do not pick up, it will then contact the second emergency contact. This will continue until the call is answered.

School Mode

This is a mode designed to make the watch distraction-free during set periods of time. The app user can set the start and end time, as well as the days it will be active, as well as the days that it is active for.

If you have multiple watches paired, separate school modes will need to be set for each.

When you select the watch via your ‘Family Page’, you’ll be able to view the weather of the watch user's current location.

Alarms

Alarms (also called reminders) can be set by both the watch and Spacetalk app. These can be set for specific times and can repeat during the week if required. The person setting the alarm also has the option to add a reminder (emojis also work)

Battery Reminder

A battery reminder sends a notification to the app user when the watch is low on battery, reminding them to place the watch on charge when they’re able.

The app user can set up the frequency of when this notification is set, as well as the days and percentage of battery that triggers the reminder.

Advanced Settings

This provides additional settings that can be updated for your Spacetalk watch via the Spacetalk app.

Here you can update the watch’s phone number, enable wear detection (for Adventurer and Loop), as well as view additional watch information and whether the watch is on the latest update.

Video Call

Video calls can be made between Spacetalk Adventurer users and the app they’re paired to. These calls have a 2-minute timer and will end automatically when it is reached.

To video call, press on the watch icon in your Space > in the actions menu, press ‘Video Call’

Rewards

Rewards can be assigned to the watch users who are then tasked with completing custom goals. The parent can then give the child a star via the app. Once all stars are collected, the child can receive their reward (provided by the parent)

To access this feature, press on the watch icon in your Space > swipe up on the actions menu and select ‘Reward’

This is filled out with the wearer's medical information. This is important as it will display on the Spacetalk Life watch if the user were to have a fall and require medical attention.

Set up via the Spacetalk app. This feature asks questions about the watch wearer’s movement and activity before determining how sensitive the watch should be to detect falls.

This can be updated at any time via the app if the setting is too sensitive or not sensitive enough.
