What are Spaces and how do I use them?

How Spaces work in the Spacetalk App, what you can do as a member or admin, and how to get started.

Spaces are the home screen of the Spacetalk App. They help you organise the people in your life — for example, your close family, the school-run parents, or relatives overseas. Each Space has its own members with their own sharing settings, so you can stay connected with different groups in different ways.

From your Space you can connect with your people through real-time location sharing, group messaging, check-ins, and essential updates.

How to get started with Spaces

Your app starts you off with a Space called Family. To create more Spaces, see How to Create a Space. Once your Space is set up, see Invite Members to your Space to add people.

If you have been invited to join a Space, see Join a Space.

If you are a member of multiple Spaces, swipe left on the Spaces screen to move between them. Three dots below your Space indicate you can swipe to see more.

What can I do as a Space member?

As a Space member you can:

  • Track others in your Space with real-time location sharing

  • Stay in touch with group messaging

  • Get notified when someone in your Space needs help

  • Share how you are feeling using the Feelings feature

  • See and share wellness information

  • Control your own sharing settings within the Space

What can I do as a Space owner or admin?

Space owners and admins can do everything a member can, and can also:
