Use the SOS feature on the app

A guide on how to use the SOS feature on your Spacetalk app.

Updated over a month ago

What is the SOS Feature?

If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation, the Spacetalk App has a built-in feature that allows you to quickly send an SOS alert to your Space members. This can be a lifesaver in a time of need.

Once triggered, an SOS alert will be sent to your Space members who have the ‘SOS contact’ toggled on. The SOS alert will be sent to all emergency contacts listed in your Space, providing your location and prompting them to contact you. If you have managed users in the Space, such as Spacetalk watch users (which could be children or elderly family members), they will not be alerted.

Now that you know how to use the SOS feature on your app, you can have peace of mind knowing that help is just a few taps away in case of an emergency.

How do I set up SOS contacts in my Space?

You can choose whether or not to be an SOS contact in each of your Spaces. In your Space, tap on the settings cog on the top right.

Whether a member, owner or admin, you can choose what you share. To change your SOS contact settings, select ‘Space data settings.

Toggle the option for ‘Receive SOS alerts’ on or off to your preference.

How to send an SOS Alert on the app

If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation, your app has a built-in feature that allows you to quickly send an SOS alert to your emergency contacts.

Step 1: Open your Spacetalk app

Simply open the Spacetalk app on your phone, which should open your Spaces page.

Step 2: Press the SOS button

In the top left corner, press the SOS button – this will begin a 10 second count down before alerting your assigned emergency contacts.

If this is pressed on accident, you can use the 10 seconds to press Stop, I am Safe! At the bottom of the screen to cancel the SOS

Step 3: SOS Alert Sent

Once the 10 second count down has ended, it will send an emergency notification to all emergency contacts listed in your Space, providing your location and prompting them to contact you. If you have managed users added, such as Spacetalk watch users (which could be children or elderly family members), they will not be alerted.
