You may see a Space in the Spacetalk app marked Legacy. It's usually called something like "[Child's name]'s Contacts". This article explains what these Spaces are, what's changed, and how to keep your child's watch contacts safe.
What is a Legacy Space?
When we moved from the old Spacetalk app to the current one, the list of trusted contacts on each child's watch was brought across as a Space. We created these Spaces automatically, so you may not remember setting one up.
We're retiring these Spaces over time. There's no date set yet, and we'll let customers know before anything changes.
Why are they being retired?
These Spaces don't work like a normal Space. For example, people added to a Legacy Space never received an invitation and couldn't see the Space. That meant they didn't know they'd been added, which caused confusion.
Important: your Legacy Space may still control your child's watch contacts
The members of a Legacy Space can still call and message your child's watch. If you remove someone from the Space, leave it, or delete it, those people will be removed from the watch, unless they also share another Space with your child. The change happens the next time the watch syncs.
Before you remove anyone or delete a Legacy Space, make sure everyone your child needs to contact has been added another way (see below).
What's changed
In a Legacy Space you can no longer:
add or invite new members
join using a Space code
add Routes or Places
pair a watch from inside the Space
Legacy Spaces also no longer appear when you choose a Space elsewhere in the app.
What hasn't changed
Nothing has been deleted. Everyone already in the Space stays there, and your child's watch contacts keep working as before. The Owner can still manage members, transfer ownership, leave or delete the Space under the usual rules:

a Space can only be deleted once every other member has been removed
How do I add a new contact to my child's watch?
The simplest way is to add a custom contact:
Go to More, then open your child's watch settings.
Tap Watch contacts.
Tap Add new contact and enter their name and phone number.
Custom contacts belong to your child rather than to a Space. They appear on the watch straight away and aren't affected if you change or delete a Legacy Space.
If the person already uses the Spacetalk app, you can instead invite them to a regular family Space.
How do I pair a new watch?
Go to More, open your child's profile, and tap Pair wearable. If you're asked to choose a Space and you don't have one, tap Create new Space.

I tried to add someone and saw "Something went wrong. Please try again."
If this happened in a Legacy Space, it's because new members can no longer be added to these Spaces. Add the person as a custom contact on your child's watch instead (see above). If you're on an older version of the app, we also recommend updating Spacetalk from the App Store or Google Play.
The same message appears if someone tries to join a Legacy Space with a Space code.
Will my Legacy Space be deleted?
Not at this stage. We're retiring these Spaces gradually and will let you know before anything changes.
